Returning to Port Beach to find Weedy Seadragons

Wednesday 23 March 2023

As the sun set over perfect conditions our divers geared up for the return to Port Beach to find Weedy Seadragons.

After having to relocate our dive here a few weeks ago due to the beach being closed the divers enthusiasm was high.

It was another awesome turn out with 22 divers here to dive. As part of his training and practice in conducting a Club Dive I handed the reins over to Perth Scuba DMT Craig to give the site brief. Thanks to Craig for giving me a hand in keeping the crowd in check……

It was another great night to dive this site. Visibility was good and with the 7 knot wind and low swell it was almost a perfect night to dive.

Divers reported seeing the unicorn of the sea, the Weedy Seadragon, some for the first time. I love seeing the excitement on their faces when they come back to shore.

Rays and curious Port Jackson’s were a plenty, along with an assortment of other cool undersea critters.

Thank you again for everyone that came along and I hope to see you at the next club dive.

Ammunition Jetty sunshine

Sunday 5 June 2022

Check out that amazing sunshine and better still the happy faces of the group of divers who ventured out to Ammo Jetty for the Perth Scuba Sunday Social Dive led by little pocket rocket Instructor Fumina Kobayashi. They had some great vis with lots of marine life to see and shared some stories over a sausage sizzle in the morning. Thanks Phil for cooking breakfast.

South Mole club night dive

South Mole club night dive

Wednesday 20 April 2022

Our dive on Wednesday was at South Mole in Freo. I had the awesome new Instructor Chris Jones cranking up the BBQ and providing shore support. A big group of divers turned up despite the weather turning a little chilly. The surface was quite choppy and a bit of surge, but once we dropped down the vis was pretty good and the critters were out to play. A few divers went out to the end of the groyne and saw a fair few big crays. The rest of us stayed around the middle and the critters were out to play. Octopus of all sizes, squid, talma, bream, cobbler, juvenile catfish, cardinals and heaps more. When we got out, Chris had dinner waiting for us. Another great dive and enjoyable banter was an excellent midweek get together. Thanks to all who came and we look forward to seeing you soon.
