Weather pushes us to dive Bicton Baths for night dive
Night Club Dive Report
Wednesday 13 August 2025
With the weather turning from bad to worse, 8 brave divers made the attempt to enter the water at Sue’s Groyne only to be battered back to shore by waves that had doubled in size in the 20 mins it took us to gear up.
With 6 divers deciding to pack it in and head home for a hot shower, our 2 first-time night divers were still super keen to get one in so we headed up to Bicton Baths to hopefully salvage the night.
On our second attempt at a dive within the hour, we were discouraged to discover that the vis in the river was almost nonexistent. Fortunately, this was only the case in the first 5 meters or so and once we got a bit deeper it cleared up resulting in a very enjoyable dive with many an interesting critter to be found.
Lots and lots of crabs and prawns plus all your typical river fishes were spotted but the highlight was for sure a little Eagle Ray who happily stuck around despite all our bright lights.
Here’s hoping next week allows us back in the ocean and we look forward to seeing you there!!
