      South Mole club night dive

      South Mole club night dive

      Wednesday 20 April 2022

Our dive on Wednesday was at South Mole in Freo. I had the awesome new Instructor Chris Jones cranking up the BBQ and providing shore support. A big group of divers turned up despite the weather turning a little chilly. The surface was quite choppy and a bit of surge, but once we dropped down the vis was pretty good and the critters were out to play. A few divers went out to the end of the groyne and saw a fair few big crays. The rest of us stayed around the middle and the critters were out to play. Octopus of all sizes, squid, talma, bream, cobbler, juvenile catfish, cardinals and heaps more. When we got out, Chris had dinner waiting for us. Another great dive and enjoyable banter was an excellent midweek get together. Thanks to all who came and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Perth Scuba welcomes seven new PADI Instructors

Perth Scuba welcomes seven new PADI Instructors

Perth Scuba would like to welcome 7 New Instructors to the PADI family. After an intensive 9 day Instructor Development Course run by Course Director Allan Bartlett and IDC Staff Instructor Braedon Curd, where the candidates learned all there is to know about dive theory, giving presentations and conducting their own Open Water, Advanced, Rescue and Divemaster courses. Our candidates then went on to sit their PADI IE (instructor examinations or "It's Easy") where they all smashed it out of the park, and earned the title of Instructor.
We congratulate you Victoria Manen, Jason Ross, Chris Jones, Caleb Bennett, Tony Muir and Owen Scott on your hard work and perseverance, and we welcome you to the world of SCUBA Instructing.
Best of Success on your journeys!

Breaking News! Christmas and Cocos Keeling Marine Parks

Christmas and Cocos Keeling Islands Marine Park
We have incredibly exciting news for World Water Day!
Together we have successfully created one of the largest marine sanctuary areas in the world!
Co-designed with the local communities, the Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands Marine Parks have just been declared by the Australian Government.
      We did it!🌴🦀
With around 739,000 square kilometres of sanctuary protection, that’s:
✅ Bigger than Victoria, Tasmania and the ACT combined.
✅ Twice the size of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
✅ A globally significant contribution to the health of our oceans.
Thank you! We couldn’t have achieved this historic win for our marine life, local island communities and global oceans without your support.
These sanctuaries will provide a critical safe haven for a wealth of Indian Ocean marine life under huge pressure from industrial fishing, climate change and mining.

      Bathers Beach club night dive

      Bathers Beach club night dive

      Wednesday 10 March 2022

Thank you to everyone who turned up for the Manta Club dive at Bathers Beach on Wednesday. 13 eager divers kitted up and made their way to the water amid a stunning sunset. This little known divesite turned out to be a complete delight! I was a bit apprehensive as the water was a bit choppy at the surface. We did a surface swim and then dropped down along the groyne. Once we descended, we were delighted to have 20m+ vis and completely calm conditions. Much to our delight, we found ourselves in an octopus garden. Big ones, little ones, there were dozens everywhere. Along with schools of bream, several baby cuttlefish, crays, squid and heaps of other critters. This was a fantastic dive and we will return for sure. See you all again soon.
