Despite less than 5m viz no one was complaining and the exBHP Jetty turned up trumps again this Wednesday. Hiding under a pipe at the start was a shy Giant Australian Cuttlefish who just wouldn’t come out and show us its full size but was probably half grown. Clouds of Toadies dominate the shallows and what becomes very evident before too long are the hordes and hordes of Blue Swimming Crabs everywhere. Forget the river they’re all down here! And you can’t touch em – Ha!

Diving in one of the worlds newest countries

As one of the worlds newest countries, Timor Leste makes for an ideal diving location. I was lucky enough to dive there in 2017, and I can’t wait to return.

The island itself is reminiscent of Bali before tourism exploded, with no street hawkers, and an incredibly relaxed attitude. The taxi’s are hilarious, and the food was fantastic!

Departure for a Truk Lagoon holiday, and first day of diving the Kiyosumi & Yamagiri Maru

5:40am Saturday 13th July 2019, 14 Perth Scuba Trukkers gathered at the Air Niugini counters at Sydney International Airport for their first group check in. For many, the two & half year wait was finally over. Truk Odyssey, here we come. Whilst the first 14 checked in and had their group photo, it was a nervous past 15 hours for the 15th PS Trukker. Qantas cancelled his flight, the last plane departing Perth the night before. Thanks to Virgin Airlines and Air Niugini, Damien rejoined successfully following an overnight flight and terminal transfer dash with his luggage.
